I believe that it is my desire to explore and learn that has led me to where I am today: a recent graduate of the Masters of Educational Technology program at UBC and, most importantly, a Math teacher at Sir John Franklin High School.
Yellowknife, with its stark beauty and strong sense of community, has stolen my heart and changed what was originally to be a one-year experience into a permanent home. I have over 9 years of high school teaching experience, most of which involved grade 9 and 10 Applied Sciences (a wonderful hands-on approach to science, technology, engineering and math) in the province of Québec.
I have a keen interest in research regarding education and ways to effectively incorporate technology to engage students in a relevant and meaningful manner. In my down time I travel whenever I can and practice a wide array of hobbies : archery, target shooting, piano, cello, amigurumi (Japanese art of crocheting small stuffed animals), as well as 3D and still shot animation.
I am looking forward to becoming an active member of the Sir John Franklin High School community and of the YK1 School Board.
