I have lived in Yellowknife for the past 7 years and have taught at Sir John for the last 4. I am a classically trained Chef having studied in Charlottetown, PE at the Culinary Institute of Canada. I also have a BA (Hons.) in Politics and International Development Studies from the University of Winnipeg.
In addition to teaching I also coach Culinary and Baking Skills Clubs through Skills Canada and have taken students to the Canadian Skills National Competition for Cooking and Baking for the last 6 years. I have sat on the National Technical Committee for Cooking helping to organize and develop the scope and competition for the Canadian Skills National Competition which happens each year at the beginning of June.
In my classroom I encourage students to expand and extend their ideas on food through bookwork and actual cooking.
