Scholarship Opportunities

To apply for any of the following scholarships please pick up a form from the Sir John office.

Deadline for submissions is 4:00pm on June 1st. Late applications will not be accepted.

 

City Cab Engineering Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who intends to study Engineering. The student has demonstrated high academic standing and community service.

 

City of Yellowknife Citizenship Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who excels in the four categories of scholarship, leadership, service and courtesy.

 

Diavik Diamond Mine 2012 Inc. Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who has been accepted into a post secondary program. Priority is given to students pursuing careers in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce or Finance. DDMI’s values and principles of active partnership, respect, development and excellence are key considerations for this scholarship.

 

Yellowknife RCMP All Ranks Mess Scholarship ~ Presented to a full-time Grade 12 student who demonstrates responsibility and honesty, has a high academic standing, shows leadership within the school community, and respects the rights and beliefs of others. The student should show a commitment to physical fitness and a substance-free lifestyle. Preference will be given to a student who intends to continue his/her education in the area of law enforcement, has a strong interest in the justice system, or justice related fields.

 

Yellowknife Education District #1 Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who is entering post secondary studies within the next year and who intends to pursue studies in Education. The recipient of this award shows good community involvement, leadership in the school, and has an interest in education in the North.

 

Enough Talk, Hurry Up and Do It Already Arts Scholarship ~ Administered by the Yellowknife Community Foundation

Established in 2006 by Dustin Milligan to assist École Sir John Franklin High School graduating students pursuing post secondary studies in the performing arts, film, music or writing. To be eligible, individuals must be Grade 12 students at École Sir John Franklin High School who have been accepted into a post secondary program for the performing arts, film, music or writing for the following school year. Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate a strong work ethic, talent in their chosen field and a passion for drama, film or writing-related studies and activities both in school and in the community.

Jenny Gamble-Fournier Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who is entering post-secondary studies within the next year and who intends to pursue studies related to communications, writing, journalism, art, art history, language or media studies. The recipient of this award should also demonstrate many of the qualities that were Jenny’s - creativity, independence of mind, honesty, open mindedness, participation in school activities, inclusive, outgoing personality, interest in art, travel and a sense of humour.

Don Cardinal Rotary Art Scholarship ~ Presented to a graduating student who plans on attending a recognized art or design program. Applications must presenta  portfolio and be interviewed by a judging panel. Please see Ms. Tonge for further details.
